Start listening — previous + current line only (thin overlay)

1. Soniox is default

Streams audio to Soniox for fast speech + translation. Needs SONIOX_API_KEY in .env.local.

2. Thin 2-line captions

Previous line + current line only — better over slides than a tall stack of text.

3. Overlay / projector

Presentation mode, or open /overlay in a second window. For captions over PowerPoint on the same screen, use the desktop overlay (see README).

Caption overlay tips

  • Big lines show translation only. Spoken language stays in the small “Hearing” strip.
  • Open /overlay in a second window (same browser profile) for a caption-only view.
  • True “float over PowerPoint on this Mac/PC” needs a small desktop shell (Electron) — run npm run overlay after install (see README).
